I got to bike! I got to bike! I got to bike!!!! (Yes mom, I am getting myself all agitated again… :))
Ah, what a bliss!
I can’t say that my urge to bike diminished though,..quite the contrary to be honest: Two days ago, I was jumping up and down because I THOUGHT it would be great to bike. Today, I’m jumping up and down because I KNOW how fantastic, marvelous, and extraordinarily awesome it feels to bike down great trails with great people on a great bike. Yey! Oh, the joy!!!
So, the reason for my total over excitement is that I yesterday, got an invitation from Jenn Hess to go to Curt Gowdy for an afternoon bike tour. I of course still haven’t gotten my new bike, but the offer included an additional offer to borrow a fully suspensed bike. You can imagine my reaction…
Yes, it was: WOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
I’ve been wanting to meet Maciej’s girlfriend Jenn for a looong time now. The things I’ve heard about this woman has really pumped up my expectations: a zoologist by profession (those who know me, also know how totally awesome I think that that is…), hard core snowboarder and a mountainbiker who doesn’t hesitate to do a 2 m drop. I was sort of in love even before I met her…
And now I know, Jenn is even more awesome than I had imagined. Reality always seem to beat fiction. And Curt Gowdy! Curt Gowdy National park is just freaking fantastic! The mix of really flowy trails and technical rocks creates a play area that can entertain even the most picky mountainbiker. There is something for everyone. If you are like me, and still have a whole lot to learn, you can take the easy way down, but if you want to, you can definetely get your kicks going up and down some properly tricky rocks. I got really inspired to go back and nail all those gnarly spots.
And nature is just, well, there is no other word for it than it being fantastic.I didn’t manage to get any good photos today, but I promise, there will be plenty to come.
I had the privilige to ride with a whole bunch of awesome people today: In addition to Jenn, I rode with Nathalie, Laurel, and Luke. This day definetely made my week! I will be on my toes until we go to Fort Collins on Sunday. This spring just took a very nice turn! Just as I knew it would :).
Oh! I have to write something about the bike too. Today I got to borrow Jenn’s carbon Giant. What a difference to ascend on a light bike! I never thought I would consider it, I always been of the opinion that it is good to have heavy stuff since it makes you stronger, but MAN, I’m almost regretting I didn’t get me a fancy pancy bongoplastic bike. I was flying up those hills!
Oh well, the way I treat my beloved ones, it may be for the best to have something that can take some rough love..
On Wednesday next week, I will hopefully get my own red beauty.. I am sooo excited! The only question that remains is whether I should grow up and get a sophisticated black and white helmet, or if I should embrace the Kermit look. What do you think?
