I really don’t know what I did to deserve this, but I’m damn happy I did it. A week ago, I was going mental, I do that sometimes when I don’t look beyond my own nose. All I could think about was that people in Sweden were riding their bikes, and I was not. I forgot all the wonders I have experienced here and went all grumpy. Well, at least on Wednesday I was grumpy as hell. Then I realized that I hadn’t worked out that day… I never learn.
And then, I met Jenn.. I’m starting to become really embarrassing, I know, I know, but it is just so cool to meet a gal that is all about going fast and hard, who is smart and funny and who doesn’t mind going out on those trails most everyday. I had the exact same experience when I first met Maria Hedberg back in Sweden. I get really inspired by them, trying to accomplish what they do with their bikes. I think that it is awesome.
Anywhooo, now, I am feeling mentally happy instead of just mental. Or perhaps just a little bit mental, but in a good way. We had yet another great ride out in Curt Gowdy today, and then I got to spend my after bike with both Jay Shogren and Linda, and with a bunch of really cool people from Jackson. Tomorrow, the premier of the WYOmericana takes place in Laramie at the Gyphron Theater. The people I met tonight constitute the Screen Door Porch. I can say as much as that my general well being was not reduced by the fact that I, while eating my burger and drinking my after bike beer in the warm summer night, got to listen to some awesome folk rock and a cover of Wilco’s Jesus, etc. while discussing back country skiing in the Tetons.. If you have a chance, you should definetely go and check it out! J Shogren Shanghai’d and Jaland Crossland are playing too.
