So I’m living with this nerd. The things that my nerd nerds about differ from time to time (although some things, like bike mechanics and bike parts are always active). Right now, he is completely preoccupied by cameras and photography. He started with learning everything there was to learn about the mechanics, and when he knew everything there was to know about that, he went on to reading everything there is to read about how to take the perfect picture. Yesterday, he got nerdy about which motives that are best suited for a monochrome exposition. I wish I was a nerd. I am not. I know the very basics of how a camera works. I use a large aperture when I want a blurred background, and a fast shutter when I want to avoid motion blur. I avoid putting my subject in the center of the picture, and I try to get something nice in the foreground, but that is it. Basically, I just point and shoot at things my gut tells me is nice :). Martin just uploaded three nice monochrome photos on his blog, and because I’m such a mimic I’m going to follow suit. So here is my contribution to shapes and landscapes in black and white.
